Cyanotype Workshop with Nancy MacDonald

Saturday 12th April // 10am - 4pm

£145

Join local artist Nancy MacDonald and learn to make botanical prints..

Welcome to a workshop that will introduce you to the antique cyanotype contact printing process pioneered by Anna Atkins in the late 1800s. Drawing inspiration from the world's first cyanotype prints, we will use botanical specimens to create beautiful, vibrant renditions of plant life. You will learn how to compose, develop and fix your botanical prints using daylight and water exactly as the Victorians once did. It is a wonderful opportunity to observe the arrival of spring and experiment with natural materials that can be foraged from our local area.

Using the finest materials each participant will complete the process of making their own prints, which will be ready to take home and enjoy by the close of the workshop. Lunch will be provided by our team in Wild Gorse Kitchen and refreshments will be available throughout the day. You will also get to take home a beautiful cyanotype starter kit.

Nancy MacDonald is a multidisciplinary visual artist combining fine art photographic processes with her classical training in painting. Living and working in the Scottish Highlands, she continues to contribute to Italian Vogue and collaborate with Magnum Photos Learn on her first book.
